Applied Physics Period 1

Objective: discuss electric charge, charge quantization, and methods of charging

Boardwork:

 Activities:

1. briefly discuss MLA formatting and due dates

2. independent reading of pgs 500-502 hewitt

3.  jigsaw reading of Hewitt text pgs 502-504, 508-514

4.  come up with 5 facts from each section; discuss and go over notes

5.  do demonstration of charge polarization with water

6. do additional demonstrations from applets online

7.  do demo of "jumping ball"

Homework: finish final copy of research paper blog describing how the demonstration's different stages worked using www.physicsclassroom.com/mmedia/#estatics to help you answer the questions

Objective: begin discussing potential energy

1. collect over-break assignments

3. go over problem example with gravitational U

4. do problem 3 chapter 8 individually; go over answer

5. discuss conservation of energy and go over equ

6. do example problems 8-2, 8-3, 8-5

7. discuss and do conservation of energy lab

Homework: work on conservation of energy lab report due Friday night; do problems 5, 7, 9, 10
